Series 2049 Emergency Vents
Pressure-relief-only emergency vents, ½" to 8", that help stop an aboveground storage tank rupturing if it is exposed to fire. Used together with a normal vent.
Manufactured in Vadodara, Gujarat, India by Pressure and Flow Control Industries since 1975.
Overview
The Series 2049 is a PRECON emergency vent (pressure relief only) for aboveground storage tanks. Fitted as a code requirement, it helps stop the tank becoming over-pressurised and possibly rupturing if it is ever exposed to fire. The emergency vent is used together with a "normal vent", not instead of one. Correct application needs the right vent size and selection for the tank system, so that the specific venting capacity is met.
How it works
The vent stays closed in normal service. It opens at its set pressure, 8 or 16 oz/in², to relieve the extra vapour generated when a tank is exposed to fire. It is weight-loaded, with a Viton seat and a 3-mesh stainless steel screen.
Applications
- Aboveground flammable and combustible liquid storage tanks
- Fuel storage at retail outlets, fleet depots, marine and industrial sites
- Any tank where the code requires emergency relief in addition to normal venting
